If you own or run a warehouse, a rodent control strategy should be top of mind. There are many aspects of a warehouse that can make it a prime target for a rodent infestation.

Rodents are always seeking for dark, sheltered, and undisturbed locations where they can nest and raise their young. Warehouses typically have tons of these locations, and if a rodent intrusion is left undetected for too long, it can turn into a MASSIVE problem.

Follow these exact steps to ensure a rodent free warehouse.

Step #1: Seal off all potential entrances into the warehouse.

A thorough inspection needs to be completed along the entire outside of the warehouse. Mice can fit through holes the size of a dime and rats can fit through holes the size of a quarter. If you detect any potential entrances, fill the holes with Xcluder Rodent Control Steel Wool. This material is perfect for keeping rodents out as rodents cannot chew through steel.

Step #2: Seal off any visible gaps underneath the doors leading to the outside.

Rodents can fit through surprisingly flat surfaces so if you find any visible gaps underneath the doors, seal them off with the Xcluder Door Sweep.

Step #3: Place poison bait stations flush against the exterior walls of the warehouse.

Rodents always prefer to run along a vertical surface so you need to ensure that the bait station is right up against a wall so the rodent is more likely to run in. I have had success using the Protecta LP Rat Bait Stations along with the JP Eaton Peanut Butter Flavored Bait Blocks.

Step #4: Take a weekly walk around all areas of the Warehouse to look for rodent droppings.

A quick visual sweep of the warehouse will help keep tabs on detecting a rodent intrusion before it becomes a big problem. If you find rodent droppings, you need to determine what their travel path is and place Tomcat Rat Snap Traps flush against the particular path (most likely the nearest wall). As previously stated, rodents always prefer to run along a vertical surface, and on top of that they are very habitual. Rodents prefer to take the same path over and over again once they have determined it is safe. The rodent’s path will be littered with droppings here and there, so be on the look out for that to help determine the path.

The combination of these strategies should ensure that your warehouse remains rodent free. I hope that this article has been helpful for you!
